I will have been a photographer for 16 years this year, time flies when you’re having fun! I wanted to share with you how having a baby changed my life for the better..
My photography journey began in my early twenties, when I became a photographic makeup artist for the Express newspaper group in London, working for media, magazines & red carpet makeup events. Working for 10 years alongside some of the very best photographers in the industry, gave me a great insight into learning all about photography, lighting and posing.
My life soon took on a new direction when I was just 28 years old, when my beautiful daughter Olivia (shown in the image below) arrived into the world and if your a mother, you will know only to well, how nothing compares, to the love you feel for your child and how life changing having a child really is! I didn’t want to miss a moment, for me it has always been extremely important that I am always there to watch my children grow, so this made me rethink my entire makeup career, as I knew I wouldn’t be able to be as flexible with my current makeup job and this is where I made the decision to pack my makeup brushes away and learn all technical aspects of the photography business. I had a great eye, I knew what worked in imagery, I just needed to learn the technical, camera and lighting side of things and the rest is history.
I have over the past 16 years, attended some of the most incredible photography workshops, learning from the very best creatives in the business. To this day I still attend workshops, to make sure im always current and being able to offer my clients the best possible service.
So reflecting on my life and my careers, I thank my daughter for making me change my life and moving my career into a different direction, being a newborn & maternity photographer in Surrey is a job I love so passionately every day, creating and recording magical moments for families to share and treasure throughout their lives. Thankyou Olivia xx
what’s something you started that changed your life?❤️
